FUNCTION

The Coordinator of Academic Management Development plays a strategic and operational role in enhancing academic quality, governance, and program development within the institution. Reporting to the Deputy Rector (Academic Affairs), this position ensures that academic processes align with institutional goals, national education standards, and professional accreditation requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Academic Governance & Policy Development
    • Assist in formulating and implementing academic policies and governance frameworks by the university’s autonomy status.
    • Ensure compliance with MOHE (Ministry of Higher Education) regulations and internal academic guidelines.
  2. Curriculum & Program Development
    • Coordinate the development, review, and approval processes for new academic programs.
    • Work closely with faculty and external stakeholders to ensure curriculum relevance, alignment with national qualification frameworks (e.g., MQF), and industry needs.
  3. Quality Assurance
    • Oversee academic quality initiatives, including internal audits, program reviews, and continuous improvement plans.
    • Liaise with the Quality Assurance Unit and relevant agencies such as MQA (Malaysian Qualifications Agency).
  4. Accreditation & Professional Recognition
    • Facilitate program accreditation processes and maintain up-to-date documentation for professional body recognitions.
    • Support departments in preparing for institutional and program-level assessments.
  5. Strategic Planning & Monitoring
    • Contribute to the strategic planning of academic development initiatives.
    • Monitor key academic performance indicators and recommend improvements.
  6. Capacity Building
    • Organize workshops, training, and knowledge-sharing sessions related to academic management, teaching and learning practices, and curriculum innovation.
  7. Collaboration & Reporting
    • Collaborate with faculty representatives, academic committees, and external partners.
    • Prepare reports and presentations for academic boards, including the Jawatankuasa Akademik Negeri (JAN).
